General Manager's Report
Marc Francis

WED, MAY 10 (Wembley Park) - The Colorado Comets lost their Open Cup match against local rivals Boulder Nova 2-1 in a hard fought game. The first half was very even with chances created at both ends of the field. The Comets took the lead in the 21st minute when Brent "Zico" Ward found Kris Stumpf with a long pass into the Boulder penalty area. Stumpf dribbled around the Boulder goalkeeper and calmly placed the ball in the back of the net. Boulder tied the score in the 39th minute when Ricky Ray blasted a free kick past Comets goalkeeper Justin Cantrell. While the Comets had most of the possession in the 2nd half it was Boulder who made the most of their chances. Chris Theofiledes scored a very good goal in the 54th minute, blasting a shot high into the net from 20 yards out. The Comets pressed for the equalizer for the remainder of the game but were unable to score due to some poor finishing, some bad luck, and some good defending from the Boulder team. Justin Cantrell was the best player for the Comets while Juan Fachini, Kris Stumpf, and Chris Edwinson also played well. Comets lineup - Cantrell, Diedrich, Fachini (Morris - 76th min), Ward, Edwinson, Maher Kayali, Brodsky (Monroe - 78th min), Mazen Kayali (Smith - 89th min), Stumpf, Perdew (Fischer - 79th min), Adams (Concha - 60th min)
