FRI, MAY 12 (Colorado Springs) - The Colorado Comets rebounded from Wednesday nights defeat to Boulder Nova with a convincing 4-1 defeat of the Colorado Springs Ascent at Sand Creek Stadium. The Ascent started strongly and hit the Comets crossbar twice during the opening minutes of the game. The game then deteriorated with seven yellow cards being issued during the remainder of the half, one of which resulted in the sending off of Colorado Spring's David Moreno. The Comets took the lead shortly afterwards when Concha's shot hit the crossbar and the rebound hit goalkeeper Richie Cullen and went in. Zico Ward was credited with the assist. The Comets were able to dominate most of the second half against the 10 man Ascent team. Concha scored his second of the night in the 69th minute (assist Wade Fischer) and Kris Stumpf finished off a good move to score in the 73rd minute, assisted by Nelson Pinto. The Ascent pulled one back two minutes later, but Roby Monroe sealed the game in the 77th minute when a chipped the Ascent keeper to make the final score 4-1 (assist Wade Fischer). Best for the Comets was Chris Edwinson while Monroe, Concha and Ward also played well. Comets lineup - McCellan, Diedrich, Fachini, Ward, Edwinson, Maher Kayali (Brodsky), Monroe, Mazen Kayali (Pinto - 62nd min) Stumpf (Francis 77th min), Adams (Fischer - 62nd min), Concha (Smith 73rd min).
