COLORADO COMETS VS NORTH ARIZONA

HEARTBREAKER IN ARIZONA

Colorado Comets suffered a questionable shootout loss against North Arizona. Mark Perdew scored in the 4th minute on a pass from Matt Harrell. Leading in regulation time 1-0 in the 90th minute, the Comets allowed North Arizona to score the tying goal with only 10 seconds left in regulation time.

The mistake proved costly. In the ensuing shootout, with North Arizona leading 2-1 in shootout goals, Mark Perdew 's tying goal was called back by the referee, who claimed that "the ball did not go into the goal within the 5 seconds allowed". Comets Coach, Marc Francis, claimed the rule clearly states that "the player must make the last contact with the ball within the 5 seconds allowed...if the ball rolls into the goal, then the goal counts...".

Colorado Comets coach, Marc Francis, named Marc Perdew as the MVP of the Game for his team.
