WEDNESDAY'S RAPIDS VS. CHIVAS GAME POSTPONED DUE TO RESCHEDULING OF MEXICAN LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED AS SOON AS FINALIZED;
CHIVAS POSTPONES GAME DUE TO FIRST MEXICAN LEAGUE PLAYOFF GAME BEING MOVED UP

DENVER (Monday, May 8, 2000) - The Colorado Rapids international exhibition match against Chivas of the Mexican First Division, originally scheduled for this Wednesday, May 10, at Mile High Stadium, has been postponed. The game has been postponed by the Mexican soccer federation due to Chivas' first Mexican League playoff match being moved up to this Sunday, May 14.

The new date of the Rapids-Chivas game will be announced as soon as it is finalized.

Chivas was originally scheduled to begin the playoffs on May 17 or May 18. Due to rescheduling of the opening round of the post-season, which was announced today, Chivas will now open the quarterfinal stage against Atlas this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. (MT) at Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara. The return leg of the home-and-away series will be Sunday, May 21st.

"Obviously, we are disappointed that the game had to be moved," said Rapids general manager Dan Counce. "However, with the Mexican playoffs being pushed up, there really was no choice in the matter. But we will play Chivas in the next couple months, and we will announce a new date in the coming days."

Chivas was the regular-season champion of Group 4 of the Mexican First Division. Chivas (7 wins, 6 draws, 4 losses for 27 points) closed out the regular season on Sunday with a 2-0 loss to Group 3 winners, Santos.
