RAPIDS GOALKEEPER ADIN BROWN UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL KNEE SURGERY

OLYMPIC TEAM GOALKEEPER EXPECTED TO MISS 14-21 DAYS AFTER PROCEDURE TO CLEAN UP RIGHT MENISCUS

DENVER (Friday, June 30, 2000) - Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Adin Brown underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today in Denver. Brown underwent a procedure to "clean up" the right meniscus, and is expected to be out approximately 14-21 days.

Brown, also expected to be the starting goalkeeper for the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2000 Games in Sydney, is expected to miss four league games, beginning this Saturday in D.C. (1:00 p.m. MT, TV: ESPN). David Kramer will assume the starting position, and the Rapids will use A-League call-ups to fill the reserve goalkeeper role (see below).

Colorado Rapids team physician Dr. Wayne Gersoff performed the procedure at Rose Medical Center in Denver.

RAPIDS CALL UP RANDY DEDINI OF A-LEAGUE RIVERHOUNDS FOR SATURDAY:

The Colorado Rapids called up goalkeeper Randy Dedini from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the A-League. Dedini will fill in as the backup goalkeeper behind David Kramer for Saturday's game against D.C. United.

Dedini has played in 8 games for the Riverhounds this season and has a record of 4-3-1 and a goals against average of 1.19.
