NEWS RELEASE

DENVER (Wednesday, July 24, 2002) - Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Scott Garlick has suffered an injured left thumb and will be unavailable to the club for an undetermined amount of time, it was announced by the team's medical staff on Wednesday.
Garlick, 29, suffered the injury in pre-game warm-ups prior to Colorado's 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew in Ohio last Saturday. Despite incurring the injury before the game, Garlick played all 100 minutes in the overtime contest, making five saves along the way.
Earlier this week an examination by the Columbus Crew team doctor revealed the need for further tests. Garlick has returned to Denver, where he will undergo additional evaluation. He will not be available for the MLS match against the New England Revolution on Wednesday at CMGI Field in Foxboro (live on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain).
