BRAZILIAN SENSATION MARQUINHO SCHEDULED FOR OFFICIAL RAPIDS DEBUT FRIDAY

Colorado To Close Out Pre-Season Schedule Friday In New Orleans Against A-League New Orleans Storm

DENVER (Thursday, March 12, 1998) - The Colorado Rapids will get their first official look at newly-signed Brazilian star Marquinho when they take on the A-League New Orleans Storm Friday in New Orleans at 6:00 pm MST. Friday marks the final pre-season game for the Rapids (8-2-1 in pre-season), who begin the regular season March 21 against the Dallas Burn in the Cotton Bowl.

Marquinho is scheduled to make his long-awaited debut following a work-visa delay that caused him to miss the press conference announcing his signing.

Not in uniform, however, will be Marcelo Balboa and Chris Henderson. The duo is in San Diego with the U.S. National Team as it prepares for a Saturday exhibition against Paraguay.

NEW ALLOCATION SET FOR WEDNESDAY: The Rapids will introduce their second international player allocation of 1998 at a press conference on Wednesday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at the Rapids' downtown offices. Marquinho will allso on hand to meet the media in a formal setting for the first time in Colorado.
