BECAUSE YOU'RE DYE-ING TO KNOW:

* The Colorado Rapids' decision to go blonde was done for team unity heading into the home opener. Look for some of the "new do's" to hang around for this weekend's MLS Cup '97 rematch and beyond.

* Some of the players did the dye jobs themselves, while others put their heads in the hands of area hairstylists. Five players were "brightened" by Chris Henderson's wife, Dee, a professional hair stylist herself.

HEAD-LINE MATERIAL:

Courtesy of your fun-loving Rapids P.R. department, five headlines we (thankfully) did not see following Saturday's game:

1) Rapids Wilt and Dye in Home Opener

2) Blond Ambition Not Enough As Rapids Fall

3) Rapids Add Bleach ... Then Get Washed Out By Galaxy 1-0.

4) Rapids Don't Show Their True Colors in Opening Day Loss

5) Blondes Don't Have More Fun; Colorado Drops Home Opener
