RAPIDS TIE LONGEST WIN STREAK:

Colorado has now won three games in a row, equaling the franchise record for the longest regular-season winning streak. The Rapids have won three straight regular season games three times before (6/30/96-7/7/96, 6/13/97-6/21/97, 8/2/97-8/15/97). The Rapids' longest overall winning streak is five games, including a win over San Jose on the final day of the 1997 regular season, followed by four consecutive playoff wins.

HENDERSON NETS FIRST:

Chris Henderson, who scored seven times during the 1997 regular season to finish one goal behind Paul Bravo for the team lead in goals, scored his first goal of the season Saturday against San Jose.

PAULE STAYS HOT:

Ross Paule's goal Saturday was his second in three games and his fourth of the season. Paule has now doubled his total goal output (2) of the 1997 regular season.

HAHNEMANN BACK IN FORM:

Marcus Hahnemann recorded his second shutout in three games and third of the season Saturday against San Jose. Only Zach Thornton (4) has recorded more shutouts than the Rapids' keeper. Hahnemann is now 3-0 with two shutouts and a 0.33 GAA since returning to the starting lineup May 28 versus Miami. For the season, Hahnemann is 6-4 with a 1.50 GAA, tied for fourth in the league in goals against.

HOME AND AWAY LIKE NIGHT AND DAY:

The Rapids improved their record at home to 5-2, but are 1-6 on the road. In the seven home games, Colorado has outscored its opponents 16-9, while being outscored 23-13 in the seven road games. Colorado is giving up an average of 3.29 goals per game on the road, while surrendering only 1.29 goals per game at home.

NINETY MINUTES IS ENOUGH THESE DAYS:

The Rapids have now played eight consecutive games without having a contest settled in a shootout. The Rapids' longest stretch of regular season games without a shootout is nine, which has happened twice (6/26/96-7/27/96 and 8/9/97-9/28/97).

RAPIDS OFF UNTIL JUNE 18:

Colorado does not play again until a visit to the Rose Bowl on June 18 where the Rapids will face the Galaxy for the first time since Los Angeles defeated Colorado 7-4. The Rapids will also face Mexican sensation Carlos Hermosillo, recently acquired by the Galaxy, for the first time.

AROUND THE LEAGUE:

--The Los Angeles Galaxy continue to toy with their Major League Soccer opponents, destroying Dallas 8-1 last Thursday, and setting the record for most goals in a game, which they had set May 6 in the 7-4 win over Colorado. Los Angeles then went on to defeat New England 5-1 on Sunday.

--Major League Soccer now enters a more "relaxed" phase of the schedule as the 1998 World Cup kicks off Wednesday with Brazil vs. Scotland. Marcelo Balboa and the United States open play June 15 against Germany.
