NEWS RELEASE

DENVER (Wednesday, June 10, 1998) - The Colorado Rapids are encouraging people to participate in the "Nathan Salley Blood Drive," to support Nathan Salley's fight against Leukemia. A huge Rapids fan, Nathan is in need of blood support as he is set to undergo intensive chemotherapy in the fall.
Nathan has a very rare blood type, A-/CMV-, a type that only 3.5% of Colorado residents have. The Rapids are encouraging people to call (303) 654-3775 to become a donor to Nathan's fight.
Nathan has become a regular in the Colorado Rapids locker room over the past year as he has forged friendships with many of the players, especially with midfielder Tahj Jakins.
"Nathan is a great kid with a great spirit and attitude. He always cheers us up when he comes to visit, even with all that he is going through. I really hope that we can get the word out to get people to support Nathan the way he has supported us," said Jakins.
