RAPIDS SET ALL-TIME ATTENDANCE RECORD

The Rapids set an all-time attendance record for the most people ever to see a soccer game in Colorado when 46,722 turned out to see the Rapids defeat the MetroStars on July 4th. The previous record of 36,252 was set on July 4th, 1997, in a 3-1 win over the San Jose Clash.

RED-HOT RAPIDS VAULT INTO THIRD PLACE

Colorado's win Saturday was its fifth win in the last six games, and propelled the team into third place in the Western Conference, trailing Los Angeles and Chicago.

RAPIDS EXTEND RECORD HOME WIN STREAK TO FIVE

The win over the MetroStars was the Rapids' fifth consecutive win at Mile High Stadium, extending the current team record for longest home winning streak. On the season, Colorado is now 7-2 at home.

HAHNEMANN STAYS HOT

Marcus Hahnemann won his fifth game in his last six MLS starts on Saturday night. Since returning to the starting lineup on May 28, Hahnemann is now 5-1 with only four goals against (0.67 GAA) and three shutouts over that stretch. On the season, the Rapids keeper is now third in the league in GAA (1.38) and has an 8-5 record. Four of Hahnemann's wins are by shutout, ranking him second in the league in the category, only trailing Chicago's Zach Thornton (6 shutouts).

STRIKING FIRST KEY TO RAPIDS' SUCCESS

After Marquis White's 73rd minute strike, Colorado has now scored first in its last six games, five of those wins. The Rapids are 7-2 on the season when scoring the first goal of the game.

MARCELO SAVES THE DAY - PART TWO

Marcelo Balboa has made his mark in two appearances, both off the substitutes' bench, since returning from the World Cup. After scoring the game-winning goal against Leon in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on 6/28, it was Balboa's sliding clearance off the goal line on Saturday that preserved the Rapids' 1-0 win in the dying minutes.

REVOLUTION AND DIAZ ARCE COME TO TOWN

Up next for the Rapids is a date with the New England Revolution at Mile High Stadium on Saturday night. The Rapids will look to shut down New England's Raul Diaz Arce, who has torched the Rapids in 1996 and 1997 with D.C. United. In six league games over those two years, the striker scored eight goals, including four in one game on April 12, 1997, a 5-2 United win. The Revolution also boast a lineup that includes U.S. World Cup stars Mike Burns and Joe-Max Moore.
