RAPIDS FIGHTING FOR PLAYOFF LIVES WITH SIX GAMES TO PLAY:

With six games remaining in the regular season, the Rapids have dropped to fourth place in the midst of a five-game losing streak. Four teams will qualify for the post-season from the Western Conference. Following is a breakdown of the remainder of the season:

* Four of the final six games are against Western Conference opponents. Colorado currently carries a 4-12 record in conference play.
* Three of the six games are at Mile High, where Colorado is 8-5 this season.
* If teams tie in the standings, the tie-breaker first goes to head-to-head results between the teams in 1998, then to goal differential for the entire season.

LOSING STREAK TIES SEASON-WORST:

The Rapids' loss Friday was their fifth straight, marking the second time Colorado has lost five consecutive games this season (5/2/98-5/23/98). The longest losing streak in Rapids history is six games (8/28/97-9/26/97).

THIRD CONSECUTIVE SUSPENSION:

Following his yellow card for dissent in the second half of Friday's loss, Adrian Paz must now serve a one-game suspension for caution-point accumulation when the Rapids travel to San Jose Saturday. Saturday will mark the third consecutive game in which the Rapids will be without a starter due to suspension. Colorado was without captain Steve Trittschuh for yellow-card accumulation in the loss to the MetroStars on 8/18, and then without newly-acquired David Vaudreuil in the Chicago loss due to a red card he received in the MetroStars game.
