RAPIDS DEFENDER JASON BENT UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL KNEE SURGERY

CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL OUT THREE WEEKS RECOVERING FROM INJURY SUFFERED WHILE PLAYING FOR CANADA

DENVER (Thursday, February 3, 2000) - Colorado Rapids defender Jason Bent underwent a successful procedure Wednesday afternoon to repair a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. Bent will be out for approximately three weeks, according to Rapids trainer Jay Mellette.

Bent originally suffered the injury while playing for the Canadian National Team in a 2-0 win over Bermuda on January 11. Bent was hurt as the result of a hard tackle which saw him leave the game in the 40th minute.

Yesterday's procedure was performed by Colorado Rapids team physician Dr. Wayne Gersoff at Rose Medical Center. Bent will begin rehabilitating the knee immediately.

The Rapids depart for Fort Lauderdale on Sunday and begin training on Monday in preparation for the MLS Spring Training tournament, which begins Wednesday with a game against the Tampa Bay Mutiny at Lockhart Stadium.
