COLORADO RAPIDS FREE UP ROSTER SPACE FOR NEW ACQUISITION BY DEALING ANDERSON TO TAMPA BAY

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW SIGNING EXPECTED IN NEXT COUPLE DAYS;
RAPIDS ACQUIRE TWO DRAFT PICKS IN TRADE

DENVER (Wednesday, April 19, 2000) - Clearing a roster spot for a new acquisition, the Colorado Rapids today traded midfielder Kevin Anderson to the Tampa Bay Mutiny in exchange for a 2001 third-round draft pick and a 2002 second-round draft pick.

The move was made to clear a roster spot for an acquisition which is expected to be made in the coming days, according to Rapids coach Glenn "Mooch" Myernick.

"We have identified a player that we are actively pursuing," said Myernick. "This is a domestic player with international experience who we are confident can make an impact this season, and we hope to be able to finalize the signing very soon and make an announcement."

The Rapids are now carrying 19 rostered players, one under the MLS-maximum of 20.

Anderson, 28, was in his second season with the Rapids. After playing in 17 games in his rookie season in MLS (1 goal and 2 assists), Anderson has appeared in four of Colorado's first five games this season.

"Kevin was a great find for us last year, and he did everything this club asked him to do," said Myernick. "This deal will be a great chance for Kevin to further his career, and I expect him to do very well with the Mutiny."
