NEWS RELEASE

DENVER (Wednesday, June 14, 2000) - The Colorado Rapids will host Chivas of Guadalajara of the Mexican First Division on Tuesday, July 18 at Mile High Stadium at 7:00 p.m. (MT). The game was originally scheduled for May 10, but was postponed due to Chivas' involvement in the Mexican League playoffs.
Chivas recently was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Mexican playoffs, losing to eventual champions Toluca in a home-and-away series by a 6-3 aggregate. Chivas was the regular-season champion of Group 4 of the Mexican First Division with a 7-6-4 record for 27 points.
Chivas boasts a dangerous side of stars led by Mexican National Team mainstay Benjamin Galindo in the midfield. Claudio Suarez, another national team member, anchors the defense, while the Rapids will also have to contend with goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez. Chivas, who has won 10 league championships (most recently in 1997), is coached by Ricardo Tuca Ferreti.
