RAPIDS LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD VOICES

WB2's Amy Freeze To Emcee National Anthem Contest At Flatiron

DENVER (Tuesday, March 27, 2001) - Got rhythm? Feeling patriotic? Ready to leave the same old karaoke crowd behind and sing the national anthem at Mile High Stadium in front of thousands of cheering fans? The Colorado Rapids are looking for six talented individuals to sing The Star Spangled Banner.

Auditions will be held this Saturday, March 31, at the Flatiron Crossing mall. Registration begins at 11 a.m., and the contest starts at 1 p.m. and will go until 3 p.m. The winners will be announced at Gordon Biersch Brewery (at Flatiron Crossing) later that day.

"The contest is going to be a lot of fun and a great opportunity for the six people who are chosen. I mean, how many people do you know that can say they sang the national anthem at a major professional sporting event?

It's really quite an honor," said Rapids' general manager, Dan Counce.

The contest will be run "Gong-Show" style, and there will be three choices of songs to choose from. All auditions will be a cappella.

WB2's Amy Freeze will emcee the event, and Rapids' forward Neathan Gibson, Gordon Biersch manager Mickie Kise, Boulder County Business Report sales executive Diane Lavin and Rapidman will be on hand to judge the contest.

Radio station KS 107.5 is also helping promote the event.
