NEWS RELEASE

Next Wednesday, May 2, the Colorado Rapids join with Ben and Jerry's to celebrate the sixth annual Free Cone Day. From noon to 8 p.m., everyone who comes into Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder will receive a free scoop of ice cream. The shop hopes to beat last year's number of 6,000 free cones.
Rapids players Seth Trembly, Steve Herdsman and Rapidman will be there from 4-6 p.m. signing autographs and scooping ice cream. Ben and Jerry's will donate all tips received during the day to the Colorado Rapids "Kicks for Kids" program and the Boulder Jr. Soccer League's scholarship program.
Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shop is located at 1203 Pearl Street in Boulder on the Pearl Street Mall (Pearl and Broadway). For more information contact, Sean Maher or Kara Williams at 303.545.6019.
Fans attending Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Galaxy (2:00 p.m. kickoff) will have a special opportunity to get autographs from Mauricio Cienfuegos, Cobi Jones and Alexi Lalas following the game.
Be sure to bring balls, shirts, posters and anything else to be autographed to the game. Listen for special instructions following the game on where to lineup for autographs from these Galaxy stars!
The Rapids Community Care Foundation is currently planning its second annual Community Care Luncheon at Denver's famous Brown Palace Hotel on Monday, June 11. The luncheon will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. with a silent auction and appearances by the entire Rapids team.
Make plans to attend! Tickets are $50 and proceeds benefit the foundation. For more information, or to reserve your space call 303.299.1526.
The Rapids' New York Life Dribble, Pass, and Shoot (DPS) program is underway for the 2001 season! DPS will be at several different locations this Saturday: Stenger Fields in Arvada, from 9 a.m. to noon; Founders Park in Castle Rock, from 1 - 4 p.m.; and at the Rapids' game in the Rapids' fun zone at Mile High Stadium, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Make sure your children come and join the fun! They could win the chance to compete nationally at MLS Cup 2001 with an all-expense paid trip for themselves and a parent.
The New York Life sponsored Dribble, Pass, and Shoot is a unique program that allows youth, ages 6-14, to test their skills locally, regionally and nationally in three different skill areas: dribbling, passing and shooting. For more information, call the Rapids' DPS representative Kim Johnson at 303.299.1574 or the hot-line at 1.888.MLS.9008.
