NEWS RELEASE

The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation (CRCCF) is in the midst of its second annual on-line jersey auction as a fund-raiser for the end of the 2001 year. Featuring authentic player game jerseys from the Colorado Rapids and other Major League Soccer and WUSA teams, the auction is currently on pace to reach new heights by exceeding the $7,500 raised in 2000. A $400 bid was placed for an authentic Mia Hamm Washington Freedom jersey (WUSA) on Friday, November 16 within the opening hour of the auction. Also a $300 bid was placed on a complete Marcelo Balboa gameday uniform (jersey, shorts and socks) from the Rapids' 4th of July game this year in the auction's opening hours. Nearly 75% of all eligible items have been bid on thus far, with several autographed jerseys still available at great prices. The auction will run until Friday, December 7th at 5 p.m., with all proceeds from the event going to support the CRCCF. For more information regarding the event and the CRCCF, which strives to promote and encourage underprivileged children to participate in activities, such as soccer, as a means to build character, improve self-esteem, and to develop interpersonal and leadership skills, call Annie Vinton at (303) 299-1575.
On Thursday, December 13, the Colorado Rapids will host their annual "Kicks for Kids" Holiday Party, held this year at Colorado's Ocean Journey from 4-6 p.m. The party will feature the Rapids organization, including players and staff, along with approximately 300 underprivileged kids from special-needs schools and organizations around the Denver area - program beneficiaries throughout 2001. Presents will be handed out, along with a hot meal and beverages for all party-goers. All animal exhibits will be open for viewing. In addition, the Rapids will be available for pictures and autographs. "Kicks for Kids" is a program that is designed to benefit underprivileged children through the integration of soccer and corporate donations. Each donation that the Rapids receive helps to send these children to soccer games, holiday parties, and more. Admittance is free for the program beneficiaries. Pictures of the party can be seen on the Rapids' website starting the week of December 17. For more information on the "Kicks for Kids" program, please contact Kieran Cain at 303.299.1598.
Ever dreamed of attending the world's largest soccer event, the World Cup? You can make that dream a reality next summer, thanks to the Colorado Rapids 2002 Fan Referral Program. If you are a new or renewed season ticket holder for the 2002 MLS season, you are eligible to participate in this landmark opportunity. The Rapids are looking for loyal plan holders willing to refer friends, companies, clubs, churches, etc., that might be interested in the family friendly pricing of season ticket or flex plans for 2002. After plan holders provide the names and phone numbers of interested parties, the Rapids will place a courtesy call (on behalf of the plan holder) to further develop the interest in season tickets for the 2002 season. For each referral provided that purchases season tickets, plan holders will earn points towards a variety of prizes, including the ultimate prize - A TRIP FOR TWO TO THE 2002 WORLD CUP IN JAPAN/KOREA. One point will be awarded for each dollar that referrals spend on season tickets. The more referrals spend, the better chance plan holders have to win prizes. To provide referrals, fill out the form located on the Rapids website at www.coloradorapids.com, or call 303-299-1599 for more information and complete rules.
