DENVER (February 13, 1997) -- In what is expected to be the team's largest fan-gathering of the pre-season, the Colorado Rapids will host the second-annual "Meet the Rapids Day" on Sunday, February 16, from 2-4 p.m. at Mile High Stadium. Fans will also get a glimpse of the team's new uniforms for 1997, designed by Reebok.
"This is our way of saying thanks to our fans, and giving them a special opportunity to get the first look at the Rapids' new look for '97," said Rapids General Manager Dan Counce. "We have a whole, new team from every aspect this season, and this fun-filled event gives everyone -- children and adults alike -- the chance to spend time with the players, shaking hands, taking photos and signing autographs."
Representatives from Reebok, as well as select Rapids players, will be unveiling the nevv uniforms at approximately 2:20 p.m. Media are encouraged to attend. and all players, coaches, team staff and Reebok representatives will be available for interviews following the presentation.
"Meet the Rapids Day" will take place on the field at Mile High Stadium on Sunday, February 16, from 2-4 p.m. Should there be rain or snow, the event will be moved to the concourses at the Stadium. Activities planned for the day include: team and coach introductions, special soccer celebration interactive theme park events, autograph signings and photo opportunities. In addition, the entire Rapids' sales force will be on hand with opening day tickets and season ticket information. Everyone in attendance will receive a free team autograph card, compliments of Reebok and Columbia.
