RAPIDS WAIVE GOALKEEPER GARTH LAGERWEY AS MYERNICK SAYS NEW GOALKEEPER “ON THE WAY”

DENVER (Tuesday, February 23, 1999) - The Colorado Rapids today placed goalkeeper Garth Lagerwey on waivers. Lagerwey was acquired by the Rapids in the 1998 waiver draft from the Dallas Burn on November 2, 1998.

Following the transaction, Rapids coach Glenn “Mooch” Myernick said that he expects to announce the acquisition of another goalkeeper in the very near future.

“We do have another goalkeeper on the way within the next few days. Once the details are ironed out, we will make an announcement. We undoubtedly will be deeper at the goalkeeper position now than we have ever been in the past,” said Myernick.

Colorado also currently has goalkeeper David Winner in training camp. Winner was acquired by the Rapids in the 1999 Supplemental Draft.

Colorado is currently in pre-season training camp in San Diego, where they have gone 3-0-1 in pre-season games and are yet to give up a single goal.
