COLORADO RAPIDS OPEN PRACTICE MARCH 4 AT MILE HIGH STADIUM

DENVER (Feb. 26, 1996) -- Major League Soccer will truly arrive this week when most of the Colorado Rapids pre-season squad touches down at Denver International Airport on Wednesday. Following physicals and orientation, the Rapids, owned by Denver industrialist Philip F. Anschutz, will hold their first-ever practice at Mile High Stadium Monday, March 4, from 3:00 to 5:00. A media reception will be held prior to the practice at 2: 00. Head Coach Bob Houghton and his 18-plus squad will train at Mile High from March 4-9. Media, and the public are invited to all training sessions. The Rapids have also invited the public for a special "Meet the Rapids Day," on Saturday morning, March 9, at 10:00 a.m., just before the team departs for San Diego.

The Rapids will be in San Diego from March 9-24 training with four other MLS teams -- Los Angeles Galaxy, San lose Clash, Kansas City Wiz and Washington D.C. United. Media from across the country will be in San Diego, and a satellite feed will be available with practice footage midway through the camp. Specific satellite times and feeds will be announced later this week.

The Rapids expect to announce their full-time training center site on Monday, March 25, and will resume training in the Denver-area on Wednesday, March 27. The Rapids host their own home opener at Mile High Stadium on Saturday, April 21, against the Dallas Burn.
