RAPIDS SINGLE GAME TICKETS ON SALE TOMORROW

Winter Park lift tickets free with season ticket purchase

DENVER (Friday, February 28, 1997) -- Promoting a new style, a new coach. a roster of new players and great new prices for their second season in Denver, the Colorado Rapids are pleased to announce single-game tickets for the 1997 Major League Soccer season will go one sale to the public on Saturday, March 1, at 9 a.m.

Tickets are available. tomorrow at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Blockbuster Music, Foley's, Payless, and Tower Records in Cherry Creek. Tickets can also be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 830-TIXS or by calling the Rapids ticket office at 299-1599.

The Rapids open their 1997 home season at Mile High Stadium against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m, MT. Opening day festivities will include the soccer celebration interactive theme park, a special tribute to the Colorado State Youth Soccer Association and its athletes, and a variety of in-stadium special events.

Ticket prices for individual games range from $11-$22 for reserved seats, a $3 cut across the board from last year's prices.

"We are confident that soccer fans, sports fans, and any fan of exciting, non-stop action and family entertainment will find the Rapids to be the top choice this spring and summer," said Rapids General Manager Dan Counce. "Our ticket prices reflect our commitment to affordable entertainment, and our new and improved product reflects our commitment to success on the field. We look forward to a terrific season in Colorado in year two."

A special bonus for early-buyers is an all-day lift ticket to the Winter Park ski resort, free with the purchase of an 18 game or equivalent season ticket package. The passes are valid April 7 through April 20, 1997, and are limited on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.

"The Rapids continue to provide our valued customers with the best possible entertainment opportunities around the state, and a trip to the slopes is an added value that is popular with any sports fan."

Other season ticket plans include the Rapids Flexi-Plans, which allow the fans to choose the games they would like to attend in both six and nine-game packages. Further, in the most fan-friendly offer possible, the Rapids are pleased to present a new ticket exchange program for 1997. Any six, nine, or 18-game package tickets that cannot be used for any reason can be exchanged for tickets for a future game.
