NEWS RELEASE

DENVER, CO (03-23-04)- The Colorado Rapids announced today the signing of three new players for the upcoming season. Defenders Adrian Cann and Gary Sullivan, who were the second and fifth round draft picks of the club respectively, will join midfielder Michael Erush on the Rapids' 2004 roster. All players are already in camp and are expected to play in the team's scrimmage against the University of Denver today at 1:00 p.m. at Pioneer Field on the campus of D.U. Details of the contracts were not released in accordance with MLS policies.
Cann is the only new signing who will not be categorized as a developmental player and will occupy one of the two full roster spots that the team had available. The Toronto, Canada native will be classified as a Transitional International, meaning that he will not count against the club's limit of three senior internationals. The four-year starter at the University of Louisville and two-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year has represented Canada at the Under-23 level and also holds a Slovakian passport. He was selected by the Rapids with the 16th pick of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft in January.
Erush is a versatile player who established himself at the college level during his time at Loyola Marymount University. He is equally capable on the left side of midfield or defense and was one of college soccer's top servers of the ball off the wing, a skill that he has shown throughout the preseason. In the Rapids' first match in Spain, Erush started the attack that led to Colorado's only goal in their 1-1 draw with Tønsberg. Because Erush is just 21 years old, he will be placed on the Rapids' developmental roster.
Sullivan, who will also be classified as a developmental player, was selected by the club with the 45th overall pick of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. He has been an ever-present figure in the heart of the Rapids' defense so far in the preseason and helped the club notch four shutouts during its five-game stint in Florida. In four years at Adelphi University on Long Island, Sullivan started 70 of the 71 matches in which he appeared, tallying six goals and four assists for 16 points.
With the addition of these three players, the Rapids roster is at 17-full roster players and four developmental ones, giving the club the possibility of adding another player in the full-roster category and two more in the developmental one.
