RAPIDS DEFEAT COLORADO COLLEGE 6-0, FINISH EXHIBITION SCHEDULE UNDEFEATED AT 5-0; SIX DAYS UNTIL OPENER AT KANSAS CITY

Rapids to share field with Denver's top media personalities Tuesday in Media Cup

DENVER (Monday, April 8, 1996) -- The Colorado Rapids finshed its pre-season exhibition schedule Sunday night with a convincing 6-0 win over Colorado College at Westminster City Park.

Midfielder Chris Henderson and forward Jean Harbor, the Rapids' first-round draft pick, scored two goals each. Defender Troy Edwards and midfielder Steve Trittschuh addad the other Rapid goals.

"I am very pleased with the progress this team has made," said Rapids Coach Bob Houghton, who has coached Division I championship teams on four continents. "I beleive we are physically and mentally prepared to open the season this Saturday at Kansas City."

The Rapids finished 3-0 at the MLS Western Conference Training Camp in San Diego in March, by defeating the L.A. Galaxy, 1-1(2-1 in shootout), D.C. United, 0-0(3-2 in shootout), and the San Jose Clash, 2-2(3-2 shootout). The Rapids other exhibition victory came April 3, when they defeated the Air Force Academy Soccer Team, 4-0.

Rapids open season Saturday at Kansas City

Coach Houghton plans to name his 16-man traveling team Thursday. The Rapids will train Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Westminster City Park before departing to Kansas City, home of Colorado's season opener, at 4:40 p.m. Prior to Friday, the team will train daily at 10 a.m. at Westminster City Park. Media and public are welcome.


Rapids to host First Annual Colorado Rapids' Media Cup; Top local media will suit up against the Rapids Tuesday at Westminster City Park

The colorado Rapids will host the Media Cup, a match that will feature several of Denver's most prominent media personalities, Tuesday, April 9, at 10 a.m.

All memembers of the media should bring your best bicycle kick and get ready to run, in what is sure to be the Rapids' most unique game of the season. Participants in the game will receive a Puma jersey and a Rapids polo shirt as well as an autographed poster.
