NEWS RELEASE

The Rapids will make their Major League Soccer (MLS) debut this Saturday, April 13 at 6:3O p.m. MST at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium, where they take on the Kansas City Wiz. Prime Sports will televise this historical game live, as well as four others this season.
"Major League Soccer is the premier soccer league in America, and Colorado has certainly established itself as a major league sports state. Now, fans can enjoy soccer at the highest level -- in person or on Prime Sports," said Rich Levine, Rapids General Manager.
The Rapids' roster features such world-class stars as Marcelo Balboa, captain of the U.S. National Team with 109 international appearances, Roy Wegerle, a 10-year veteran of the English Premier League and member of the 1994 World Cup team for USA, and Shaun Bartlett, the star forward of South Africa's 1996 African Nations Cup title.
Major League Soccer consists of ten teams that play 32 regular season games from April through October. The season culminates in a conference playoff series that will determine the conference champion, and eventual MLS champion.
The Colorado Rapids officially became an MLS team on June 6,1995 and will play all of their home games at Mile High Stadium. For ticket information, call the Rapids hotline at 299-1599.
