The captain of the U.S. National Team and the USA's all-time leader in international appearances with 109 showed why Houghton has called him "the best American player in the game today." In the third minute of the second half, Balboa scored the Rapids first-ever goal after receiving a perfect pass from forward Jew Harbor. After a 57th minute score by South African forward Shaun Bartlett, Balboa was at it again, sending a cross from midfielder Scott Benedetti into the far right corner of the goal.
"It is great to be back in the United States," said Balboa. "To walk onto the field at Mile High in front of 21,000 fans is an incredible experience, and I am grateful to finally have the opportunity to play professionally at the highest level in my home country."

The Rapids, whose next game is May 5 against Kansas City at Mile High, resumed training today at Westminster City Park and will train daily at 10 a.m. and on Saturday at 8 am. The team will not train on Sunday, Media and public are welcome to attend any Rapids practices.
