MLS Western Conference Finals -- game #1
Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Texas

Colorado Rapids win game #1 of the Western Conference finals by defeating the Dallas Burn 1-0.

In the first half of the game Marcelo Balboa passed the long ball to Matt Kmosko, who made a perfectly placed cross to Sean Henderson, who headed the ball ove Dallas GK, Mark Dodd, and into the net.

In the second half, Colorado continued it fast pace attack and defense, nullifying all of Dallas' attempts to score the equalizer.

In the final seconds, Dallas' free kick almost scored with a header deflection hitting the post and bouncing back. A quick shot hit the right net ending the game, with the Colorado Rapids shutting out the Dallas Burn. Marcus Hahnneman made two crucial saves before the game ended to save the day.

Game #2 will be played in Denver, Wednesday, October 15, 1997, at Mile High Stadium, 7pm (Denver time).

What perfect timing for the Colorado Rapids to peak. Coach "Mooch" Myernick continues to roll ahead. Our vote for him to be "Coach of the Year" looks brighter with each game.
