Edward Eid's GOAL TO GOAL

May 5, 1996 - Colorado Rapids vs Kansas City Wiz at Mile High Stadium before over 11,000
The Colorado Rapids defeated the Kansas City Wiz 4-0 in a one sided game. No one from the lackluster Wiz stepped forward. The game was dominated by the Colorado Rapids in front of over 11,000 home fans at Mile High Stadium in Denver. (The large anticipated latin community attendance was negligible. The attempt to tie in to the Cinquo de Mayo Fiesta for a large crowd did not materialize.)

The Colorado Rapids' most effective players of the game were: Steve Trittschuh and Chris Henderson. Both had a very high work rate ... Both had 1 goal and assist each ... Gene Harbor had several opportunites to score, but hesitated by taking a touch too many.

Balboa's performance was steady, but lacked the spark of the last home game. Bartlett was effective in the midfield and created many plays, however, he had to leave the second half to have his knee attended to. He was replaced by the recovering Roy Wegerle.

Coach Houghton's Rapids played as a unit, outplaying Coach Newman's Wiz.

The Colorado Rapids' Management needs to be more creative in attracting more spectators to their home games. Scheduling a game during the Cinquo de Mayo celebrations, and opposite the Colorado Rockies home baseball game should have been avoided.

RAPIDS Goal #1:

Scott Benedetti scored with a long shot that bounced past the goalkeeper and into the net. The ball was from Steve Trittschuh.

RAPIDS Goal #2:

Chris Henderson's perfect free kick was deflected into the net with a sharp header by Steve Trittschuh. Great goal!!

RAPIDS Goal #3:

Chris Henderson intercepted a ball that was first touched by two Wiz defenders. He quickly shot and scored.

RAPIDS Goal #4:

In the last minute of the game, Roy Wegerle passed the ball to Richard Sharpe who chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head and scored.

The Game officials were:

	John Hepburn, Referee
	Keith Hageman, Sr. Linesman
	Otto Hernandez, Linesman
	Scott McCaslin, 4th Official
Game Assessor was Greg Todd
Colorado Rapids game record is now: 2 wins & 1 loss.
