In the 1st minute of the game, the San Jose Clash caught the Rapids defense flat footed, and chipped the ball over the GK Hahnemann and Cerritos headed it into the net.

In the 20th minute, the Clash caused a Penalty Kick. Rapids' Wolde Harris scored, tying the score 1 - 1.

In the 33rd minute, the score remains tied 1 - 1. The Rapids are pressing in waves, with several near misses. This was followed by the Clash's own near miss in the 36th minute.

At the end of the first half, the score remains

tied 1 - 1.

In the 46th minute, Colorado's Paul Bravo, who suffered a deep contusion in the 20th minute, was subbed out for Jorge Dely Valdes.

In the 52nd minute, San Jose attempted to clear Colorado's corner kick by Andres Limpar, but scored an own goal by Wade Barrett.

Colorado Rapids now lead by a score of 2 - 1

In the 58th minute, Balboa sent a ball to Dely Valdez, to Ross Paule, who brought down the ball and shot it into the right goal post, bouncing it in the inside left side of the goal.

Colorado now leads 3 - 1

In the 63rd minute:
On a free kick by San Jose Clash, the ball bent in over Rapids' GK, Marcus Hahnemann, and dipped into the far left corner of the goal. That was a beautifully executed free kick.

The score is now Rapids 3

In the 73rd minute, dribbling through the Clash defense, Colorado's Dely Valdez scored, assisted by Wolde Harris and Marcus Hahnemann.

The Rapids now lead 4 - 2 with 17 minutes left to play.
