May 29, 1996 - Colorado Rapids vs Dallas Burn at Mile High Stadium. Attendance Reported 10,971
The Colorado Rapids outplayed the Dallas Burn in a less than exciting game. Chris Henderson, the Rapids Midfielder, played a great game and scored a terrific goal on a pass from Scott Benedetti in the 24th minute. Rapids Defenders, Denis Hamlett and Matt Kmosko, succeeded in neutralizing Mexican Superstar, Hugo Sanchez and Ted Eck. Frustrated Dallas Burn failed to hit its mark after 14 shots, despite the hard work by goalkeeper Mark Dodd, as well as Midfielder Jason Kries and Brian Haynes.
Jean Harbor scored the second goal in the 67th minute on a penalty kick after being taken down by Burn defender, Laurence Lozzano.
Chris Henderson was named Player of the Game. Shaun Bartlett was away playing with his National Team (South Africa).
At the end of the game, fans ran onto the field to meett Hugo Sanchez (who was cheered anytime he touched the ball) and wave the Mexican flag.
