Before a reported 8,571 fans, the Colorado Rapids let a win escape in the last minute of regulation time. Caught flat footed in the back, DC United penetrated the Rapids' defense and created a one on one scoring on Goalkeeper Dustin Hudock.
The Rapids' first goal was scored by Trittschuh assisted by Harbor who also scored their second gaol unassisted. DC United's first goal was the direct result of the linesman's missed offsides call. Their second goal was the result of a questionable Rapids formation that allows a "beat one, beat all" situation.
Tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time, the game went into a shoot out, where DC United outscored the Rapids 3-1.
